Pan-African Hour: Syllart vs. Soundway (May 26, 2010)

DJ Hey Turkey Sandwich and DJ Ride the Lightning start the show off with a short spotlight on our favorite African-Canadian, K'Naan, before going into a face-off between two of our favorite record labels: Syllart and Soundway. Quite an eclectic show, from traditional Malian music to Congolese Rumba, featuring music by K'Naan, Chubb Rock, Geraldo Pino, Empire Bakuba, Sir Valentino, Ensemble Instrumental de Guinee, Dr.K. Gyasi and his Noble Kings, Soundioulou Cissokho and Mahawa Kouyate, Don Isaac Ezekiel Combination, and Fanta Damba. Music from the Syllart albums: Mali:One Day on the Radio, Guinee: Cultural Revolution, Congo 70: Rumba Rock, and Senegal: The Teranga Spirit, and the Soundway albums: Afro Baby, Geraldo Pino and his Heartbeats-Afro Soca Live, Panama!3, and Ghana Special. All Syllart albums are from their African Pearls series. These record labels are great, so buy their albums!
