Pan-African Hour: Syllart vs. Soundway (May 26, 2010)

DJ Hey Turkey Sandwich and DJ Ride the Lightning start the show off with a short spotlight on our favorite African-Canadian, K'Naan, before going into a face-off between two of our favorite record labels: Syllart and Soundway. Quite an eclectic show, from traditional Malian music to Congolese Rumba, featuring music by K'Naan, Chubb Rock, Geraldo Pino, Empire Bakuba, Sir Valentino, Ensemble Instrumental de Guinee, Dr.K. Gyasi and his Noble Kings, Soundioulou Cissokho and Mahawa Kouyate, Don Isaac Ezekiel Combination, and Fanta Damba. HHSOPB: Gifts Unlimited Rhymes Universal

Originally aired May 9th, 2010, on CJSR 88.5 fm in Edmonton. Spooky Luk is back in the house, kickin' of the first half of the show with the good ol' global hip hop. In the second half we be rockin' it Gang Starr style, playin' a cross section of hip hop from Guru's career in tribute to a true legend of hip hop who sadly passed away on April 19th, 2010.

HHSOPB: European to the Fiji Islands

Originally aired April 25th, 2010 on CJSR 88.5 fm in Edmonton, AB. Another tack in the map as we pump some Fijian hip hop for the first time ever on Hip Hop Spread On Planet Bread. Spooky Luk comin' with a European Hip Hop profile, and some Venezuelan raps for good measure.
...On another note, HHSoPB has officially released a global hip hop mixtape, compiled and mixed entirely by Ranking B and DJ Spooky Luk. Its called "Hungry Hungry Hip Hop Volume 1" and is sure to be the first of many, so keep ya eyes & ears open.
