Pan-African Hour: Cuba (June 9, 2010)

In this episode our heroes DJ Papacito and DJ Mamacita play music from throughout Cuba's history. We play a lot of son, especially from the 1950s, courtesy of the album Soneros de Ayer y Hoy, put out by the record label Syllart as part of their Cuban Pearls series. We also play some Orisha music, consisting of large groups of people singing and playing percussion. Featuring music by Eliades Ochoa, Parranda Espirituana, Lazaro Ros, Vocal Baobab, Maria Teresa Vera, Orquesta Aragon, Ramon Valez, Chappottin, Carlos Argentino y Sonora Matancera, Luis Varona, and Compay Segundo.
